Goldenrod

Susan Lewin is a part of Maxfield Parrish's work and life. While working on Goldenrod, it was never far from my mind that the materials I was using came from the same town that she did.
This is my first human figure. The obligation and opportunity for detail made for many days beneath the Plainfield sky.
She is detailed in Goldenrod and Willow. Her frame has drilled holes through which other parts of the frame run through or into. This is Griselda, a 1909 work featuring Susan Lewin.

Nearly Finished
She is curing in the shed. Here is her picture today.
I dried Goldenrod flowers for her hands and hair but they are not on her now as they are very fragile.
